Judith Bloedjes (1968), visual artist, wants to give ceramics the appraisal it deserves. She designs and makes highly wearable porcelain jewellery. Her use of manifold textures and materials like porcelain and silver give these objects an industrial appearance. However, upon closer inspection they reveal a soft and sober character. A journey into shape and form led to a broad diversity of unique specimens. Bloedjes has also designed a whole range of unusual design objects made of her favorite material porcelain, that all seem to have one thing in common: they are so exceptional, it's quite hard to tell what purpose they serve until they are actually in use and thus come to life.

Bloedjes is currently working on live performances of fresh porcelain jewellery made live on models in ‘a catwalky’ surrounding...

Contemporary work by fifteen artists can be found in the gallery, each represented by a small series of 3 pieces inviting the viewer to question the limits of the area traditionally occupied by jewellery. Sieraad Art Fair - AmsterdamSieraad2015

November 5th – 8 2015 in the Westergasfabriek, Amsterdam.

Traditionally, jewellery art in Holland was a craft that took its importance from, among other things, the many national costumes and the jewellery that went with them. Apart from its function as ornament it also conveyed meaning: jewellery worn during mourning or on the occasion of birth, marriage or other special events. Sieraad is a meeting place for people who wear, collect and make jewellery! There just isn't another place to see so many green and ripe jewellery designers 'in the wild...'

Oh - and one of the nicest things, 'Sieraad' is like a museum, there's people from all over the world that wear their almost not wearable best pieces of jewellery, wether it be functional or not. A 'must see' or at least 'a must have been to...'

Galerie Terra DelftBloedjesTerraLlr
